Infuse Fun in Tech Workloads

Making Tech a Friend, Not a Foe

I recently chatted with a founder from a Microsoft Partner company whose approach to technology was surprisingly playful. They didn’t just tick boxes when delivering solutions; they wove in imaginative elements that caught users’ attention and turned mundane tasks into enjoyable experiences.

One standout example: instead of a standard knowledge base, they gamified the process of finding information. They’d embed small “Easter eggs” within documentation pages—rewarding employees who took a moment to explore beyond a single quick query. Another example: they developed a feedback form that displayed humorous prompts and witty messages, nudging users to be more open and expressive. These seemingly minor twists encouraged people to engage more deeply, ultimately enhancing adoption and satisfaction.

It reminded me that while we often focus on performance, security, and integration (all critical!), we can sometimes forget the human element. Adding a bit of fun in unexpected places can help break down barriers, create a positive emotional connection, and spark meaningful interaction—both within the organization and with customers. The importance of focusing on humanness is something I learnt back in my college (in my minor of Human Computer Interaction).

When we prioritize decisions around enhancing user adoption and ensuring our platforms aren’t perceived as a hindrance, we create environments where technology becomes a natural extension of people’s work—and, yes, even something they look forward to using.
